The idea that Greta Thunberg is on the spectrum and/or has OCD is obvious now that Meghan has pointed it out. And yet to the best of my knowledge, no one in the mainstream media has ever mentioned this fact.

Just my little pet theory.

But which I mean that it's well-established that she's on the autism spectrum. She has called it her "secret power" (for good reason). My pet theory is that the climate obsession is a manifestation of her OCD and autism more than a coherent concern.

Can't remember where I first heard it but certainly you are not alone in espousing that theory. Aspects of her speech, affect and mannerism are apparently a "tell" to those who study autism and similar disorders.

this was a somewhat surprisingly interesting convo ( wasn't quite sure what to expect, though I obviously hold Ms. Daum and Mr. O'Neill in high regard. I think what really caught my attention was Megan's articulation of the Boomer Generation (I a m not a Boomer, I am Gen X) and it's 'infantalization" of broader society, etc. Really interesting convo over that, though I of course also agree with Brendan's positive aspects of that generation (I love sex and rock and roll!, drugs? not so much) . But I don't think woke is over , not even remotely close, it has simply been beaten into a slight, if temporary retreat (something even Brendan admitted). The pendulum simply swung SO FAR into heights of preposterousness, I simply call it the Rebellion of the Normies.

Not all dictionaries define woman as adult human female. Cambridge Dictionary: An adult female human being, including adults who live and identify as female though they may have been said to have a different sex at birth.

The TERF thing is interesting let's say, but it's important to understand that in Britain, it's basically the older generation (https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/23780231241237662). The younger people who call themselves feminists are the trans activists.

It's good that the some of the TERF types say accurate and obvious things about sex when other people are not doing this. However, I don't think you get a medal for standing up to oppose a problem that you yourself are responsible for.

I agree with Meghan's assessment of Baby Boomers resistance to becoming adults. The backwards baseball cap should be banned from all serious forums. However, there is room for some stratification of the generation--early Boomers (pre 1950) had a different ride than late ones. Also the third wave feminist leaders were not Boomers. Finally, many Boomers were children of seriously traumatized parents who lived through the depression, World Wars, the holocaust, displacement and more, and were aware of adult concerns far too early in life

As a fellow Gen Xer I appreciate this conversation

Another excellent interview and guest Meghan. You continue to knock it out of the park. Love your take on Greta Thunberg. I also have been listening to Brendan's podcast and truly admire his clarity on calling out Hamas as terrorists and speaking with facts against the unfortunate prevailing narrative. As a Canadian, I hope he is right about a return to common sense normie positions!

I knew this guy and the discussion proved a great comparative cross cultural frisson. Loved it but I read Brit papers & felt sad he seemed unsurprised that mean tweets land you in jail in Britain? You don't know what you lost until it isn't in the bill of rights... Of course, the upside is Brit cops are unarmed - apparently.

As for Boomer blaming, this is too frequently invoked by middle class, grad school Xers plus demographically misguided. Laying current cultural dysfunction upon them is a far too convenient cope. Not all Boomers were your parents or your college profs and Greta is not their child. The vast bulk were ordinary men & women, who did not do college, thus got drafted into the VN war, & had little cultural influence. I know because I am one.. our GenX kids are glad to have come up absent social media madness, cell phones or confusing gender theories plus exiting state colleges debt free. They actually thank us for it but in fact we didn't make much of that world. Just lived in it with them.

Thank you for another great interview! The words man and woman have bodies attached to their definition. There is no body attached to other “genders” like non binary, etc. it’s a queering — meant to obfuscate and confuse. Nobody cares what anyone wears, acts, etc — but we cannot conceptually, or otherwise, relinquish our animal nature: our precious Homosapien inheritance, our commonality with other creatures. thank god for people like Meghan and Neil 🙏.

Excellent conversation.

Embarrassing disclosure alert:

For about 35 minutes I swore you were taking to Michael Brendan Dougherty.

EDIT:

Wokeness is the culmination of social trends 50-60 years in the making. It can't suddenly disappear because of an election.

What has changed is that the George Floyd MSM feeding frenzy has died down. So people like DiAngelo and Kendi are no longer in the forefront of our consciousness. But I will bet hard currency that places like my "elite" alma mater have not eliminated a single sinecure from the sprawling DEI bureaucracy.

Yes some corporate jobs have been cut the last couple years but those were just easily-scraped icing on a very large cake. Look at academia, MSM, professional organizations, arts/culture, foundations etc. That's where the heels are dug in.
