Some changes are coming to The Unspeakeasy universe, including the wind-down of the online women’s forum, a return to the Founding Member Zoom hangouts (look for a post about this very soon), and more in-person offerings, including co-ed events and retreats. (Our star-studded coed weekend in NYC a few weeks ago was a spectacular success. I’ll tell you more about it in the near future.)
We’re working out the final details of our 2026 retreat schedule and will open it up for registration soon.
Today, I am excited to unroll a new feature: a Monday discussion thread. Every Monday, I’ll throw out a topic or a question and you all can go to town on it.

Today’s topic is — you guessed it — Helen Andrews’s October 16 Compact essay, The Great Feminization, which is drawing equal (semi equal?) amounts of apoplexy and admiration. From what I can see, I got the first interview with Helen, which is here if you haven’t heard/seen it already. This Substack post also includes some written thoughts from me about the piece and its strengths as well as its limitations.
Our interview is also blowing up on YouTube, where, thanks to my descent into clickbait competence, there are some really erudite viewer comments.
The Great Feminization has also been covered in too many places to list, but here are a few links.
