Hi everyone,
As you’ve probably noticed, changes are afoot around here. First, The Unspeakable Podcast is slowly being renamed The Unspeakeasy. Notwithstanding White House mayhem/authoritarianism/fascism/whichever termism you preferism, it seems like we might be moving past the age of unspeakability and into something at least slightly easier. So, The Unspeakeasy seems like a better name for the podcast. That does not mean it’s just for women or is directly related to The Unspeakeasy community. It’s the same podcast as always. It just has a new name.
Livestreams and You
A key new offering is the Unspeakeasy Live livestreams, every Tuesday and Thursday at 3pm ET/12pm PT. In addition to talking with guests, I’m going to experiment with audience-guided episodes, where you suggest topics and even pop in with questions. The first one will be this Tuesday, April 29.
If there’s anything on your mind that you’d like to talk about on video in real time between 3-4pm ET on Tuesday, leave a brief comment telling me what it is and I’ll consider bringing you in. And if I don’t choose you, don’t take it personally. It’s probably because the topic is either a) too big for an off-the-cuff conversation or b) so far out of my area of knowledge that I might look dumb.
Penelope Trunk Is Back!
Meanwhile, great news for fans of life coach/advice giver/tough love dispenser Penelope Trunk, a fan favorite from the late A Special Place In Hell. Penelope will join me on the livestream Thursday, May 8 and yell at you take your questions. If you have questions for her, put them in a comment below. If you’re brave enough to actually pop into the video and talk with Penelope directly, please say so.
If I bring you into the livestream, I’ll send detailed instructions ahead of time. Please note, you need to use your phone and it needs to be mounted on something that won’t fall over in the middle.
These opportunities are reserved for paying subscribers. So join up if you’re not one yet.
Don’t be shy!

Does Penelope have a hero that she looks up to? Who does she admire? Joan of Arc? Buddha? Che Guevara?
I don’t know about being brought in … but if you’re looking for topics, I think I’ve mentioned this before … the plight of the generation of women who just missed out on the sexual revolution. My mom … born in 1937, married at 20, 3 kids by 35 … spent the 1960’s being a housewife and mother … woke up in the 1970’s wondering how she missed out on having the life she wanted. And never, really, coming to terms with that.
